Taylor Swift

Who doesn't know Taylor Swift? I think a lot of people know her, even just coincidentally hear Taylor's song in the mall, coffee shop, bookstore, etc. She was born on December 13rd, 1989. Her original name is Taylor Alison Swift. She is an American singer and songwriter. She is from Nashville, Tennessee, U.S. She started her career at 14 years old. Some people called her "A Queen of Heartbreaking" because she is known for her breakup songs. Although not all of her songs are about it, there are songs about life, depression, parents, brother, confidence, lovers, dreams, haters, etc. 

On Wednesday 18 May 2022, Taylor Swift was awarded an honorary doctorate from New York University (NYU). She received her Doctor of Fine Arts degree at Yankee Stadium along with other NYU graduates. Fyi, such honorary titles are usually given to figures who are considered to have great service or influence in certain fields. An honorary doctorate degree may be awarded even if the recipient of the degree has never pursued any advanced studies. So, she is a Doctor of Fine Arts now.

At that time, I knew Taylor Swift through watching a music program on Net TV called "Breakout" that presents a collection of music video clips from Indonesia and abroad. At that time, if I'm not mistaken, I saw her music video with the title "22". The song is fun, the lyrics, the melody, I really love it. Next day, I searched for Taylor's song on Youtube. I've got a lot of favorites from her songs. 

So far, the total album that Taylor has made 10 albums (cmiiw) : Taylor Swift, Fearless, Speak Now, Red, 1989, Reputation, Lover, Folklore, Evermore and new album : Midnights. On 21th October, she released her new album "Midnights". There are 13 songs in this album and there are also 3 am extra tracks which contain 7 songs. So, there are actually 20 songs in total. According to Taylor's Youtube channel, she said that the philosophy of Midnights album is a collage of intensity, highs, low and flows. It describes that Life can be dark, starry, cloudy, terrifying, electrifying, hot, cold, romantic or lonely. Just like Midnights. 

I'm so excited for this. Because as a swiftie (Taylor's Fan name) I need to listened a new masterpiece song from her work to fill up my day. I'm glad she released this album. I've already listened to all her songs. It's been worth to wait. This album is heartbreaking, amazing, and inspiring. I'm so grateful that Taylor chose to share this side of her life with us. My favourite songs from Midnights album are "You're on your own, kid, The Great War, Maroon, Midnight Rain, Question...? and of course the main song is Anti-hero".  Love this entire album! 

I like Taylor Swift's songs because the lyrics that she arranged are poetic (she's such a musical genius). From her songs, I gained a lot of new vocabulary because she's using unfamiliar words and idioms. Unconsciously, I can say that Taylor can also be an English teacher for her fans. For example, like me. Usually, I watch one of the YouTube channels, to know the translation from Taylor's song. Because I wanna know the meaning of her song.  This channel is different from others, because the way they translate the song, it is like using a technique, I forgot what translation techniques name. So, the translation is not rigid. The name of this channel : Indolirik. 

I can't buy her album yet and I should save more money. And I hope that someday I can watch her concert live and buy her album. Anyway, what's your favourite Taylor's song on Midnights album? or maybe what's your most favorite Taylor's song?
